Bloomington Civic Theatre is committed to being accessible to all patrons regardless of their disabilities. To this end, all of our shows are interpreted in American Sign Language for deaf and hard of hearing patrons and Audio Described for blind or visually impaired patrons for one performance during the run of the show. We also have assistive listening devices (ALDs) for hard of hearing patrons. Our theatre is structurally accessible for persons with mobility disabilities or who use wheelchairs.
Wheelchairs:
Our facility is fully wheelchair accessible and wheelchairs are available for use on site.
Assisted Listening:
Assisted listening devices are available at every performance. These devices amplify the sound from the sound system through a headphone. These devices can be obtained at the box office on the night of the performance. A driver’s license or picture ID will be required to obtain a device.
Sign Language Interpretation:
Sign Language interpretation is provided at one performance of each production. These performances are indicated by a symbol on the show calendars. Seats near the interpreters are reserved for patrons using this service. These seats are held in reserve until 7 days prior to the performance. Any unused seats at that time are released for sale to the general public. If no seats have been sold for the Sign Language interpretation service 7 days prior to the performance, all seats will be released for sale to the general public and the Sign Language interpretation will be cancelled. When ordering tickets please indicate your need for seating in this section. Discounted tickets are available for the patron using this service and one companion. When ordering tickets on-line please indicate your seating need in the “Order Comments” section during the check out process.
Audio Description:
Audio Description services are provided at one performance for each production. These performances are indicated by a symbol on the show calendars. This service provides an audio description of the action on stage for patrons who are visually impaired. The description is listened to through a headphone. These headphones can be obtained at the box office on the night of the performance. A picture ID will be required to obtain a device. Discounted tickets are available for the patron using this service and one companion.
